The Tanah Lot Shrine

Tanah Lot is an tourist object in Bali, Indonesia. There are two shrines which are on the big stone. The one is on the stone hunk and steeply sloping riverbank resembles Pura Uluwatu. The Tanah Lot shrine is part of Sad Kahyangan, where the shrines are the pivotal strength of Bali. The Tanah Lot shrine is the ocean shrine, which is place for revering the God.


The Myth


Based on the myth, this shrine was built by a Brahmin who roamed from Java. Danghyang Nirartha who corroborate the Baliness Hinduism and built Sad Kahyangan at the 16th century. By the time, Bendesa Beraben was the master in Tanah Lot, was envious of Danghyang Nirartha, because most of his adherents followed Danghyang Nirartha. Danghyang Nirartha was expelled by Bendesa Beraben. Before Danghyang Nirartha left Tanah Lot, he moved the hunk of stone into the midst of beach and built the shrine there. He changed his scraf into a snake which kept the shrine. Today, the snake is still in the shrine.

The View of Tanah lot

The Tanah Lot is at Beraban, about 13 km from the west of Tabanan. In the south of Tanah Lot, There is a shrine whose location is on the steeply sloping riverbank. It connects between the land and the shrine. It likes a bridge. Tanah Lot is a place where we can see the most beautiful sunset. Tourists always come and watch the sunset here.
The Facilities
When you enter the shrine, there are a lot of art shops and canteens surround you in the parking area. The cheapness toilet which was rent to the domestic or foreign tourist.


The Holy Day


Odalan is a holy day in the shrine which is celebrated once in 210 days. It is celebrated near the Galungan and Kuningan celebration which are held at Holy Day Buda Cemeng Langkir exactly. In that day, there are so many people pray in this place.
